Recommended Senior Medical Consultant's Panel Dr. Bhagavan, DABS, FACS came aboard on the 1st of November 1993 as a Consultant in General, Peripheral and Endovascular Vascular Surgery and is the head of department of Vascular Sciences. He obtained a fellowship in the American College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons. He has over 25 years of experience, and prior to joining Manipal Hospital, Bangalore (MHB), he taught surgery for five years at St Martha’s hospital and another 11 years abroad. He continues the same at Manipal Hospital. He has published papers in peripheral vascular surgery and in general surgery. Dr. Vasudev Rao, MS, FRCS is a post graduated in General
Surgery and has specialization in Vascular Surgery and obtained a fellowship
in the Royal college of surgeons. He has over 25 years of experience and
has been instrumental in planning the surgery departments at the Manipal
Hospital, right since inception in 1991. He has several scientific publications
and has been editor of various magazines, and is well renowned for his
organizational skills – whether it’s a scientific program
or cultural. Besides, he spends quality time imparting his skills to the
post graduate students at Manipal Hospital. Dr. Arun Prasad, Senior Consultant Surgeon, Minimal Access Surgery & Surgical Gastroentrology, MBBS (AFMC Poona) MS Surgery (MAMC, New Delhi), FRCS (Edinburgh,UK), FRCS (Glasgow,UK). Dr. Arun Prasad graduated from Armed Forces Medical College, Poona in 1983 at the age of 21 years. He subsequently got trained in Surgery at Maulana Azad Medical College and associated Teaching Hospitals (LNJP & GB Pant Hospitals), New Delhi.He went to England for further experience and higher surgical training. After qualifying for his FRCS in 1990, he was working in the prestigious Charing Cross Medical School, London and associated Hospitals, before returning to India. He was part of the team that did the first Laparoscopic Gall Bladder operation in that hospital and since has been a pioneer in Laparoscopic and Thoracoscopic Surgery. 56 year old Dr. Bhat, MS, FRCS (ENG), FRCS (EDIN), PGDMLE association with Manipal Hospital, Bangalore, started with the inception of the hospital in 1991. Since then he has been not only rendering his expertise in medical consultancy but also imparting his proficiency to students and residents alike. Before his career with Manipal Hospital, he has taught medicine in Indian medical colleges for two years and foreign colleges for eight years. Dr. S.N. Simha,MS, DIP IN PALLIATIVE MED (UK) is a consultant in the department of General Surgery. He has done his MS, FICS and a diploma in palliative medicine. He has been with the hospital right from the stage of conceiving the general surgery department. He has many scientific papers to his credit nad has been on editorial board of many journals He specializes in palliative care. His other interests include communication skills and training.
