As a general guidelines following are the rough time scale for selected dental procedures.

For Implants work - 2 visits to the Dental consultant in India. The 1st. Visit is for 10 days and after a span of roughly 4 - 5 months 2nd. Visit for 2 weeks duration is required.

For teeth whitening - the dental consultant will prepare a whitening compound tray which needs to be worn overnight for couple of nights for best results.

For white filling - 20 - 35 minutes work and could be done on the spot as out patient basis.

For Crown work - 1 Week stay minimum in India.

For Bridges / Fixed Bridges work - 3 visits to the Dental consultant in India of 30 minutes to 45 minutes each.

For Veneers (Ceramic / Composite/Porcelain etc.) work - 7 days plan to stay minimum with 2 visits to the Dental Consultant in India (1st. Visit of 1 hour and 2nd. visit of 15 - 30 minutes).

What is root canal treatment (RCT) and is it safe ?
When the nerve in a tooth dies (either because of decay or trauma) the dead tissue is removed from the canal, medicaments such as antiseptics and localised antibiotics are used to clean the inside of the tooth and the canals are filled.

What are the alternatives to Root Canal Treatment (RCT) ?
The alternative to RCT is to extract the tooth and thoroughly curette the extraction site (Note: this is standard for all extractions). When a tooth is extracted it should be replaced to maintain the harmony and balance of the teeth and jaws. The alternatives have their own potential problems and often may involve more extensive treatments.

What are Removable partial dentures ?
These need to be removed and cleaned after every meal. They may increases risk of periodontal disease. They also increase wear and tear on adjacent teeth and gums that support the denture. Hence, they are not as comfortable as your own teeth.

What are Fixed bridge work ?
It involves crowning teeth on either side of the missing tooth. It also increases risk of periodontal disease. There is always the possibility of the nerve in a supporting tooth dying.
